Wat ooit in de 18-eeuw een post was van de Nederlandse Oost-Indische Compagnie is nu het schitterende wijndomein van Jayne, Sebastian en Ariane Beaumont in het centrum van Bot Rivier. Het totale landgoed bestaat uit ruim 400 hectare grond waarvan er 34 zijn aangeplant met wijnstokken. Beaumont staat bekend om zijn pure biologische wijnen met een fraaie range aan producten: van inheemse druiven als Chenin Blanc, Pinotage tot meer internationale druiven als Chardonnay en Mourvèdre.

De “New Baby” is in 2015 geboren. Een blend van 5 witte druiven: Chenin Blanc Old Vines geplant in 1974 en 1978  (45%), Sauvignon Blanc uit 1983 (20%), Semillon uit 1997 (15%), Chardonnay uit 1997 (6%) en Colombard uit 1988 (8%). Met als resultaat een fascinerende, houtgerijpte blend.

My dream was to create a white blend to partner the Vitruvian. The first name that came to mind was “New Baby”. I wrote this on
the barrels and so the first vintage was born. The follow up 2016 vintage is a little more classic in style. Not quite as voluptuous as
the 2015 but with a precision and complexity of flavor that draws you into the wine. The 2017 vintage is in between both these pvs
vintages in terms of style and weight. It has the added dimension of some great phenolic tension.

RATINGS & REVIEWS | First vintage has been given 5 stars in the Platter Wine guide. Tim Atkin Review gave it 95 points and
selected it as one of the top white wines.

FOOD PAIRING | Delicate and rich at the same time this is a wine that can be enjoyed on its own and with something delicious from the ocean. Scallops for sure!
